"I’d shot under by around 3-4 stops. After very slight tweaking in Canon DPP, lo and behold, a good usable image with very decent details retained."
The following image was over exposed by about 2 stops. After pulling down the EV and highlights a wee bit in DPP, I was able to get a rather decent image. Although I must say, going 1 or 1.5 stops over is really the max you should ever go.
Other improvements of note are:
– Auto-focus (the AF feels more responsive and accurate, and as good as the 1D-X was, Canon managed to make it even better with the Mk II, which honestly is quite amazing. The ability to focus well in low light is much appreciated)
– LCD Touch focus (is just great fun and I can see it as a great tool for some photographers and especially cinematographers)
– 4K video (just looks plain amazing. I am no cinematographer so I won’t want to start commenting on things I don’t know well enough, but seeing those 4K clips on my LCD TV is just awesome)
– more info available inside the View finder (to be able to customize and fill up the VF with more info is just fantastic)
– 14/16fps (the mkII is built for speed)
